Gentlemen,

I as directed by Mr. Secretary Thomas to inform you that he has had under consideration your letter of the 1st of April and that he has decided to accept the proposals contained therein for the removal of the present discrimina- tien against German missionary societies in regard to missionary work in the Colenies, Protectorates and Mandated Territories under the supervision of this Department, apart from Palestine and Iraq, where, so far as Mr. Thomas is aware, there is no discrimination against German missionary

societies.

2. Such societies will accordingly henceforth be placed in a position similar to that of missionary societ- ies in other European countries in regard to the admission of their members to the Dependencies concerned, and it will be open to the Conference of Missionary Societies in Great Britain and Ireland to recommend them for "recognition" by His Majesty's Government under the existing arrangements, subject to the conditions stated in the last paragraph of your letter.

(d.) G. Grindle.

The Secretaries,

Conference of Missionary Bocieties

in Great Britain and Ireland;
